The origins of this project began on July 10, 2023, my birthday. The gesture began with the idea of making one drawing a day, an “unfolding drawing”. By unfolding (existing) folds on square paper and then underlining the folds, 366 unfolding drawings were produced in July 2024.
These 366 drawings were filmed one by one, with a voice indicating the date each one was made.
Each drawing, born of an unfolding, represents an unfolding of each of the 366 days. For me, each unfolding constitutes a deconstruction. These deconstructions are then transposed and assembled on ceramic tiles, producing a new construction of interior architecture: wall and floor.
These trace marks, “memories of deconstruction” or “disguised deconstruction”, will rebuild everyday living space.
